Adaptive Adventures
Adaptive Adventures, serving children and adolescents with disabilities in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, received $1,000 for programs held weekly at Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin. The organization provides a fun, safe learning experience for participants to improve their independence on the slopes.
This year the organization structured instruction to allow family members topa rticipate. Evan and Kate, both 13; Reed, 10; and Grace, 5, learned to ski alongside their parents. With continued practice, these families will be able ski together safely.
In addition, six children, ages 8-12, with Cerebral Palsy learned to ski while their proud parents watched.
“She now can go up and down the bunny hills unassisted and she is just so proud of herself. She inspires us daily and we’re so thankful for this experience,” a parent told Adaptive Adventures.
