My first experience skiing was in my backyard when I was 12. My parents had gone on a company ski trip, and when they got back home, they were so excited about their new adventure that they had to share it with me. They put me in my mom’s oversized boots, snapped on a pair of skis, and let me slide down the small hill behind our house. It was hardly skiing, but it sparked my interest. The following February, we took a trip to Winter Park, where a half-day group lesson with my instructor, Libby, opened a door that never closed.
In 2013, I became an instructor at Snow Creek in Weston, Missouri. During my first year, I joined PSIA-AASI and earned my Level 1 Alpine Certification, followed by my CS1 certification the next year. My full-time career is as an electrical engineer, and I hold degrees in physics and secondary education in mathematics. While I enjoy diving into the physics and mechanics of skiing, teaching is just as important to me. Outside of skiing, I stay busy with golf, boating, and playing and refereeing ice hockey.
