I started skiing in my 20’s & fell in love with the sport immediately! My boyfriend at the time, (now husband) taught me to ski, and we both became instructors in the ’80s at Boston Mills, where we both currently still teach. I joined PSIA my first year of teaching, & received my Associate certification (Level 2) in 1982 in Alpine, followed by Snowboard Level 1 & Children’s Specialist 2.
Over my years at Boston Mills/Brandywine I taught various Children’s Programs from ages 4-18. When the director of the Snow Squad Program (7-12-year-olds) stepped down, I took over & ran 3-weekend sessions at Boston Mills, followed by directing the program at Brandywine when management merged the 2 resorts in the ’90s. Snowboarding started taking off, so we added riding lessons to the Snow Squad menu at Brandywine, which I oversaw & instructed as well.
School programs & privates are always fun, but BMBW’s Women’s Discovery program has become one of my favorites to be involved with. To empower women of all ages & abilities to enjoy skiing & snowboarding is extremely rewarding.
Changes in my “day job” happened at the end of 2019, and after 41 years at WOIO/WUAB TV, I have left the building – giving me more time to explore my other passions.
My goal? To pass along the enjoyment of how skiing & riding can be fun for all ages, genders & abilities – and one great way to spend time with family & friends in the winter!
