When I was four years old on a cold, wintery Minnesota day, my dad strapped a pair of blue wooden skis to my snow boots and pushed me down the hill saying, “You’re skiing now.” I was hooked, and I’ve never looked back! I’ve always loved skiing, and I have always tried to improve my skiing or learn different styles of skiing, such as ballet. Since I became an instructor, I’ve continued to strive to improve my knowledge and skills with my teaching and skiing through attendance at PSIA-AASI clinics or by taking clinics from others.
I am the lead clinician and an instructor at Snow Creek Resort near Kansas City, Missouri, and I also instruct at Breckenridge in Colorado. This is my seventh season of instructing at both resorts. This year, I received PSIA-AASI’s Three C’s (Collaboration/Communication/Cooperation) Award. I was nominated for this award by Snow Creek Resort because with each new season I actively recruit new instructors; encourage instructors to increase their knowledge and skills; and encourage my fellow instructors to become PSIA-AASI certified.
For my “desk job”, I am a senior director at a company that specializes in marketing and marketing technologies for multiple industries. My clients have included national associations that face similar challenges to PSIA-AASI, such as membership turnover and association relevancy to its members. As a board member, I will leverage my experience with the goal of reducing member turnover and improving association relevancy.
