I started skiing at the age of three at Squaw Valley in Northern California. My strategy was simple, go straight down the hill, crash near the front of the lift line and get help from some adult to help me back on the T-bar. Moving to Northern Idaho in middle school allowed me to log over 70 days a year all through middle school and high school. I tried to get a job at 14 teaching at the local resort but was denied because of my age. It took me another almost 40 years to get my first role as a ski instructor. Attending college in Alaska allowed me to continue my passion for skiing. I worked in a local ski shop and had access to a pass at Alyeska doing more than my fair share of skiing in the land of the midnight sun. Jobs moved me and my family all over the country, but I was always able to keep skiing, taking at least a 2-week ski vacation and the odd days at local resorts. I taught our three children the love of snow sports (2 boarders and 1 skier).

In 2018, I became a PSIA-AASI member and began teaching at Perfect North Slopes. I now have my level 3 Alpine and senior specialist 1 certification and work as an instructor and trainer at PNS. The PSIA has helped me both improve my skiing and give me the tools to effectively teach others. I am a huge advocate for all to join. When not skiing or thinking about it, I am an avid participant in wheeled sports including BMX, Motocross, drifting cars, adventure motorcycling, and enjoying time on the water wake surfing. You might find me wadded up at the front of the line. If you do, help me out.
