Individual

Diagonal Side Slip

Level 2

ALPINE ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

Individual activities: Manage each of the Technical Fundamentals as prescribed.

Description:

Begin with skis perpendicular to the fall line. Do a sideslip that moves diagonally across the fall line. Maintain a consistent rate of descent and a consistent corridor width. Repeat on the opposite side.

Terrain:

Green or gentle Blue terrain/Groomed snow

Ski Performance:

  • Skis remain perpendicular to the fall line
  • Ski remain parallel
  • Both skis maintain similar edge angles relative to one another during the slip

Body Performance:

  • The upper body is aimed towards the downhill ski tip
  • Edge angles are controlled by tipping the legs and feet
  • The ankles have matching forward angles

Fundamental Focus:

Control the relationship of the Center of Mass to the Base of Support to direct pressure along the length of the skis and/or Control edge angles through a combination of inclination and angulation
