Level 2
ALPINE ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
Individual activities: Manage each of the Technical Fundamentals as prescribed.
Description:
Position the skis perpendicular to the fall line. Begin slipping down the hill, use subtle fore/aft weight shifts and steering movements to guide the skis forward and back within a corridor that is two groomer widths wide. The same ski remains on the downhill side. Repeat facing the opposite direction.
Terrain:
Blue terrain/Groomed snow
Ski Performance:
- Skis remain parallel and stay the same distance apart.
- Skis bend from the center.
- Pressure is directed toward the outside ski
Body Performance:
- Legs rotate under a stable upper body
- Lower body tipping movements and a stable upper body create angulation and balance over the downhill ski
- Lower body for/aft balance adjustments are made to adjust the forward or backward direction of the skis
Fundamental Focus:
Control pressure from ski to ski and direct pressure toward the outside ski and/or Control edge angles through a combination of inclination and angulation
