This interactive clinic serves as a base for any ski or snowboard instructor seeking information on effectively connecting with and teaching guests in typical or adaptive lessons who may have mild to significant cognitive related challenges from stroke survivors to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Due to the increasing prevalence of inclusion of students with cognitive diagnoses in typical educational and activity classes, this clinic is valuable for all snow sports instructors. Instructors preparing for adaptive certification will find this course especially helpful.
The clinic consists of 2 weekly video conferences for 2.5 hours, plus homework, over two evenings. Classes will start promptly at 7 PM ET and end around 9:30 Pm ET on each day for a total of 5 hours of course work.
Format: This clinic utilizes Ring Central Meetings, a web-hosted service for online video conferencing. Before each week's class, you are given a link and a password for the online meeting. You can use either a desktop or mobile device to connect to the meeting, and you can receive audio via computer or phone. The presentation is shown via the sharing of the instructor's desktop. Throughout each class, there are discussions and activities to encourage participation.
For more information on how to prepare to use RingCentral Meetings, please copy the link below into your browser.
Note: You must be present for both classes to receive PSIA credit. There is no makeup session, and there are no recordings of the sessions.Additional Event Details:
