Join PSIA-AASI Rocky Mountain Adaptive Education Staff Member Beth Fox and PSIA-AASI Northern Rocky Mountain Adaptive Staff Member Trevor Hildebrand in the Learn to Ski (the Skit Ski) Education Workshop. 

Event Time: 8:30 AM (CT) - 4:00 pm (CT)

Course description: After a season of quarantine from clinics and instruction, the opportunity of the winter is here! Join us to get in and go bi-skiing and monoskiing independently, build skill and understanding, or recharge your brain and body in this discipline. Receive skill expansion feedback from the clinic leader and activity ideas from groupthink. Bonus experience includes insights into teaching group sit-ski lessons.

Attendees will spend time creating seat fit to support effective movements in their sit skiing, practice fun flatland drills to build a solid foundation in these disciplines, and get turning on a variety of slopes for enjoyment and insight. 

Overall Objectives:

• Identify aspects of effective seating
• Apply foundation building activities to personal sit skiing 
• Practice bi-skiing and/or monoskiing independently
• Cite class handling strategies for group monoski lessons

 

Sample activities:

• Choose a sit-ski and set it up for personal use
• Participate in skill-building games
• Partner up for performance feedback 

 

Materials needed:

• Helmet
• Snow boots
• Personal alpine ski equipment
