Crystal Community Ski Club

Crystal Community Ski Club, of Thompsonville MI, received a $2,000 grant, which funded three programs involving more than 100 young people.

Students from Hamtramck High School near Detroit traveled for the first time to Northern Michigan and their first destination resort for a weekend. The 22 teens had learned to ski and snowboard over five sessions through SOS Outreach at Mt. Brighton in Michigan. The trip to Crystal Mountain Resort solidified a love of snowsports for many of the participants.

Nordic Rocks at Kennedy Elementary School in Manistee, MI provided four one-hour Nordic ski lessons during the school day.

A group from the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians learned Nordic skiing over two sessions.
