SOS Outreach (Kenosha)

Grant recipient SOS Outreach is a Colorado-based nonprofit that works with Vail Resorts to introduce snowsports to at-risk youth by providing lift tickets, lessons, clothing and gear, and meals. After the first year, SOS Outreach sustains long-term, on-slope relationships between participants and adult mentors. After three years in the program – skiing and riding at Wilmot Mountain, Wisconsin – participants enrolled in a public school district in Kenosha, Wisconsin are now accomplished skiers and snowboarders. An ASEA-CEF grant of $500 helped support an end-of-year party for mentors and participants to celebrate their achievements.
